Summer Textile Classes 2011 (taught by NC SDA members)

Introduction to Silk Painting Workshop at the Sawtooth

Learn how to create beautiful silk scarves and fabric. Painting on silk requires no formal painting instruction. The high quality French dyes move magically on the canvas of silk creating beautiful colors and designs. Learn how to stretch silk on a frame and how to apply dyes with watercolor brushes. Various techniques will be explored like wet on wet, wet on dry silk, watercolor, alcohol and salt. Complete a sampler of techniques and a scarf. A $25 supply fee is included in the cost of the class. Please bring a bag lunch. Beginners welcome. Repeat students will be taught new techniques……………….Section: 3103 A

LOOK, PLAY, DESIGN and will be taught at Shakerag in Sewanee, TN June 12-18 .

Taught by Clay McLaurin and Jane Sisco

This class is about exploration and creating surface designs. The idea behind the class is to show how inspiration can become a pattern.  We will use the surroundings at Shakerag to find inspiration then bring that back to the class to begin drawing from it.
